The present state of life style is not conducive for human health and well being. As a result man has to suffer from various ailments and the peace of mind is totally lost. The more man is approaching the better future the more he is prone to deadly ailments. Stress, stress and constant worry get the better of him and ultimately he has to surrender to the infliction of ailments particularly blood pressure, anxiety, headache and migraine. Ayurveda has found out the root cause of migraine and shown the remedial path.
According to ayurvedic principles headache can be caused due to the imbalance of Tridosha, Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Migraine is caused specifically for the imbalance in Pitta disorder. According to ayurveda the moment the Pitta reaches the blood circular section of the human body it compresses the blood vessels. Blood vessels in return give pressure to the nerves and as an immediate outcome migraine is caused. The patient feels an unbearable headache, mostly one sided but may radiate from one side to another in due course. The eyes become inflamed and sensitive to light and nausea and vomiting follow. Ayurvedic physicians combat migraine after pacifying the irritated Pitta in the patient's body with the help of herbal medicines, massages and changing the life style. Ayurveda stresses on the intake of special food especially that can soothe the Pitta problems. Sour, spicy or stale foods are absolutely restricted for the migraine patients.
Sometimes it is seen that some migraine starts in the morning and subsides as the day progresses. According to ayurveda the patients should take pieces of ripe banana with ghee, date sugar and just a pinch of dusted cardamom. If the headache is caused due to Pitta misbalance the diet is absolutely beneficial. If the patient can take it early in the morning he may get relieve from the severe bouts. Again there are some herbal preparations to combat migraine but it is not wise to treat oneself with ayurvedic medicines. It is better to consult an ayurvedic physician and seek his help.
For long term follow ups the following ayurvedic measures may be of great benefit. The patient should get up at dawn and take some specific yogic exercises and breathing techniques. Then he should take bath and follow the specific life style hinted by the ayurvedic physician. The migraine patients must avoid direct exposure to sunlight. This exposure causes migraine in most cases. A brisk walk in the moon light by the river in open air is extremely beneficial.
